The tourism industry is going through difficult times as a result of the COVID-19 crisis.  At the same time, the industry is also finding new ways to inspire, entertain, and overcome one of the most complex moments in history. In this spirit, Interface Tourism has launched “El Viaje de Curro”, an initiative that showcases the work of Spanish bloggers and travel journalists by asking them to contribute inspiring travel content in support of the fight against COVID19 by the Médecins du Monde charity organization.

Together these professionals writing a unique collaborative travel novel. A chain story linked with the hashtag #YoViajoConCurro, which has contributions from over 30 of the best- known Spanish bloggers, journalists, creators and experienced travel-lovers. This novel takes the main character, Curro and the reader, on a fictional trip to countries that the writers have experienced first-hand in an endless adventure that is narrated in real-time on the web www.elviajedecurro.es.

In each chapter Curro meets up with one of the writers who acts as his host and guide showing him his/her favorite places and sharing adventures and experiences before passing the baton in the form of a challenge to the next creator, who takes Curro to the next stage of this journey. Each writer challenges the next on social networks and each new chapter must start with exactly the same sentence that ended the previous chapter. This collaborative projected is now growing almost organically with a life of its own. All the stories form a real novel, which will be published both digitally and in print, and which can be sold once the adventure is over with all profits going to the charity.

In addition to inspiring and reminding the confined Spanish travelers of the excitement of travel and discovering new places, which is the energy that drives global tourism, “El Viaje de Curro” aims to contribute to the fight against the epidemic of COVID-19 that is currently preventing us from traveling. For each chapter contributed by a professional writer, Interface Tourism is donating 50€ to collaborating Médecins du Monde. The public can also get involved by ordering a copy of the book, making their own donation from the link on the campaign website or simply by spreading the word (as Interface is also donating 1€ every time Curro’s adventures are shared on the web).

Starting with Zanzibar and the Indian Ocean, with spectacular photos, stories, and travel tips, the trip is also told in the different social networks of both Curro and each of the narrators. Recognized authors of the blogosphere such as Con Dos Tacones, Blog de Palo, The Travel Notebook, Las Sandalias de Ulises, Travel, fly and live, El Pachinko, Actual Gastro, A Tomar Por Mundo or Alberto Menéndez; and content creators such as Carlos Zapata, Manena Munar, Pilar Ortega, Manuel Charlón, Alfredo Reyes and César Sar, have joined this initiative, turning it into a joint effort to inspire and help while we all wait for the moment when we can travel again.
