Just a few days to start the largest international tourism meeting held in Spain: FITUR will open its doors on January 18th, allowing us to travel again to all parts of the planet in a space of 200,000 square meters.

FITUR is consolidated as a meeting point for professionals in the tourism sector, especially for Latin American markets, becoming one of the most effective scenarios to generate business opportunities. Last year, the fair closed with the record numbers of more than 9,600 exhibiting companies from 164 different countries, 124,659 professional participants, over 107,200 non-professional visitors, and the presence of more than 7,100 journalists. Together, these figures represent a 5% increase in attendance compared to 2015. In addition, there was a 25% growth in the volume of business appointments scheduled and managed during the event.

By sector, hospitality is the one that most participated as an exhibitor (29.4%), followed by the official bodies (27.8%). As for the professional assistants, the most important were those from the wholesale sector, travel agencies and incoming agencies (25.6%), being that area of the market that attracted the most interest from the expert public (19.1%).

From Interface Tourism Spain, we invite you to go around the world through all the news that our clients present in Fitur 2017.

You can approach the Slovenian booth (4E05) and discover much more about this region known as the Green Heart of Europe; in addition, Slovenia Tourism will be the official sponsor of the Travel Bloggers Meeting to be held on Friday, January 20th, at 4pm at Rafael Hoteles Atocha. Also in Europe, Promote Iceland (4C08) invites you to taste the delicious Icelandic cod at lunchtime on the 18th, 19th and 21st.

Already in Asia, the Philippine Department of Tourism (4E12) gives you the opportunity to know why “everything will be much more fun in the Philippines” this 2017. Incredible India (6D01), meanwhile, will celebrate on Friday 20th at noon a press conference to present the latest news of its magical country, and the southwestern region of the country, Karnataka (6A12A), will promote 2017 as its “Wildlife Year”.

In the Caribbean, we can check out Jamaica Tourist Board’s stand (3E16) and, among its most important novelties for the New Year, the new direct charter flight from Evelop (Group Barceló), from Madrid for the summer of 2017. Experiencia Xcaret (3E02) will present Hotel Xcaret Mexico that will open in December 2017 under the innovative concept ALL-FUN INCLUSIVE®, transforming the traditional all-inclusive including nature, adventure and the most emblematic natural parks in Cancun and Riviera Maya.

To end the round-the-globe visit, in South America we find two proposals: Quito Tourism (3A29) wants you to discover this capital, considered as the most beautiful colonial region of the continent, and Chile Tourism (3C08) invites you to know this wonderful and diverse country through its regions and its excellent wine.

Throughout the first three days of the fair, FiturTech Y renews its commitment to innovation and technology in tourism with the extension of its conferences to four new forums, each of them focused in business, destinations, sustainability and future trends. Chile Tourism will be present on January 18th to talk about “Sustainable regeneration of tourist areas and the preservation of common heritage” and Expedia (10F40) will participate on Friday 20th in the talk “How to face the present and future challenges of distribution”.

FITUR once again knocks on our door as that inescapable event that will invite us to discover corners of the world, savor different cultures and dream of new destinations to add to our list of “places that I must know”. The entire Interface Tourism Spain team is waiting for you next January 18th to make your next dream come true.
